Activities to Date

  1. Convened network of 11 Ranchers, The Nature Conservancy, and the Lemhi Regional Land Trust in November 2010; established Mission Statement, Goals, and Work Plan; hosted meetings, workshops, and field tours.
  2. Build relationships with staff at the Bureau of Land Management, the United States Forest Service, and the Idaho Department of Lands regarding grazing allotment management, monitoring, and fish and wildlife concerns. Host field tours with ranchers, conservationists, and agency staff with an emphasis on grazing allotment management, monitoring, and anadromous fish species habitat management.
  3. Hired range management specialists to assist with field monitoring. Gathered information on agency monitoring protocols and plans for monitoring on CIRN participant allotments. Established approach for conducting supplemental monitoring on allotments. Conducted 17 days of monitoring on CIRN member allotments, either with ranchers (conducting photo-monitoring) and/or agency staff (participating in agency allotment monitoring).
